Butter cookies

These cookies are great for a snack in the afternoon with some tea or coffee. They are very easy to make and once you get some practice you can decorate them in different ways for birthday partys or Christmas.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups + 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F or 180ºC.
  2. Beat the butter with the sugar until the mixture looks creamy. Add the egg and mix well. Then add the milk and the vanilla extract. Sift the flour and add with the baking powder and the salt, mix well.
  3. Stretch the batter (it is better in a wood board with flour). Use extra flour when it gets sticky. Cut the cookies in different shapes using different moulds and place them on a greased and floured baking tray. You can also use a parchment paper to avoid them from sticking.
  4. Take to the oven for about 10 minutes or until they turn slightly gold. Leave them to cool on a wire rack.
  5. Once they are cooled, coat half of each cookie with melted couverture chocolate using a teaspoon or a spatula and top with sprinkles.

To melt the chocolate: Place the chopped chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water on low heat (making a bath marie). Stir until it is smooth and there are no remains of chocolate pieces.

Galletitas de Manteca

Estas galletitas son muy buenas para la merienda en la tarde con té o café. Son muy sencillas de hacer y una vez que tengas algo de práctica se pueden decorar de diferentes maneras para fiestas de cumpleaños o Navidad.

Ingredientes

  • ½ taza manteca
  • ½ taza azúcar
  • 1 huevo (temperatura ambiente)
  • 1 cda leche
  • 1 cta extracto de vainilla
  • 2 tazas + 2 cdas harina
  • 2 ctas polvo de hornear
  • ¼ cta sal
  1. Precalentar el horno a 350 grados F o 180ºC.
  2. Batir la manteca con el azúcar hasta que la mezcla quede cremosa. Agregar el huevo y mezclar bien. Luego agregar la leche y el extracto de vainilla. Cernir la harina y agregarla junto con el polvo de hornear y la sal, mezclar bien.
  3. Estirar la masa (es mejor en una tabla de madera con harina). Usar harina extra cuando se ponga pegajosa. Cortar las galletitas de diferentes formas utilizando distintos moldes y colocarlas en una asadera enmantecada y enharinada. También se puede utilizar papel manteca para evitar que se peguen.
  4. Llevar al horno por aproximadamente 10 minutos o hasta que adquieran un color dorado leve. Dejar enfriar en una rejilla.
  5. Una vez que estén fríos, bañar la mitad de cada galletita con chocolate cobertura derretido utilizando una cucharita o una espátula y espolvorearlas con chispas.

Para derretir el chocolate: Colocar el chocolate en trozos en un bowl sobre una olla con agua caliente que se va hirviendo a fuego lento (haciendo un baño maría). Revolver hasta que esté uniforme y no haya trozos de chocolate remanentes.
