Chocolate alfajores

This recipe is awesome, it’s good for breakfast, for a snack or for dessert. There is something nice about eating something small, that you don`t have to cut, and these alfajores are great for that.  If you can put your hands on some dulce de leche, do it! As you may have noticed I use a lot of dulce de leche, in my country almost every dessert takes it, but if you can´t get some or don´t like it (which means you are crazy..) you can also use peanut butter or a chocolate ganache to fill them. On the top I like to finish them with some powdered sugar, but that’s up to you. You will find the dough is a little bit sticky, so don´t hesitate to use extra flour if you think it is needed. I hope you try these and then let me know how they worked out, and remember anyone can cook anything, you just have to try!

  • 220 gr flour
  • 80 gr dark chocolate (powder)
  • 150 gr butter
  • 150 gr powdered sugar
  • 1 egg room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F or 180ºC
  2. Cream the butter until it gets whiter, add the sugar and keep mixing. When you have the consistence of a cream add the egg and mix well. Add the extract and then de dry ingredients.
  3. Using your hands finish to mix the batter and stretch it in order to cut the round shapes. You can use extra flour while stretching the batter if it gets too sticky. Cut circular shapes using a mould.
  4. Place the shapes in a baking tray with a parchment paper to avoid it from sticking. Take to the oven for 10 to 15 minutes or unit they get darker. Leave them to cool on a wire rack.
  5. To fill them heat the dulce de leche until it gets easy to spread, but not too much or it will fall off the sides of the cookies. Finish with powdered sugar.

  • 220 gr harina
  • 80 gr chocolate amargo en polvo
  • 150 gr manteca
  • 150 gr azúcar impalpable
  • 1 huevo (temperatura ambiente)
  • 1 cta extracto de vainilla
  1. Precalentar el horno a 350 grados F o 180ºC.
